"Martian Child" available on DVD
One word. Wow. The whole family sat and watched "Martian Child" starring John Cusack last evening. The story was compelling, the acting superb, and the director successfully captured the hearts and minds of the audience as we laughed, and were deeply moved by a story of belonging, loss, and isolation.
Will Smith should get an Oscar
Just got home from seeing the movie "I Am Legend" starring Will Smith. Apparently this isn't the only movie loosely based on the book of the same title, written by Richard Matheson. There is a review of the book here. In 1971, the movie "The Omega Man", starring Charlton Heston was one of the others.
"The Kite Runner" review
One of the books I read this summer while flying back and forth from Allentown to Seattle was the book "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini. It was the author's first published work, and I was intrigued by the subject matter.
The title itself drew me in because no notion of what a kite runner is would even come to mind. The closest thing I could relate to it was "drug runner" but I knew that could not be it.
While strolling into Tully's one day
It just wasn't the month of May; it was a cold, crisp day in December. I had just exited the 522 (that's the bus that goes from the Park 'n' Ride near our home directly to downtown Seattle) and entered Tully's at 4th Ave & Union St. I sat on a stool near a window watching the people hurry by, and was searching for my cell phone to contact Bob (we were meeting for lunch).
